Dr. Elisabeth Reichert, Dipl.Soz.Arb.; MSSW, Ph.D.

received her German Social Work Degree (equivalent to MSW) in 1983 from the Fachhochschule fuer Sozialwesen in Mannheim, Germany.

She received a Fulbright Scholarship to study social work in the US. She received her MSSW in 1985 and her Ph.D. in Health Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

During her doctoral studies Dr. Reichert worked at the University's Women's Center. From 1989-1994 she was employed by the Project Against Sexual Abuse of Appalachian children as a clinical social worker. Dr. Reichert also has a valid licensure as a clinical social worker in Tennessee (LCSW). Dr. Reichert has been with the Southern Illinois University of Carbondale - School of Social Work since 1994.

In addition to her regular teaching responsibilities, she has planned coordinated and taught four study abroad courses in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

She has been active in many university committees:
Affirmative Action Officer (1995-2001), Search Committee, (1995-present), Curriculum Committee (1995-2000), Graduate Admission Committee (1997-2001), Executive Committee (1998-1999), Elected Faculty Representative to the faculty (1998-1999), Operating Committee (Chair (1998-1999), Department Tenure and Promotion Committee, (2000-present), College Tenure and Promotion Committee (2000-2002). Graduate Admission Committee (1996-2001).
She has been active in the Committee to Enhance Minority, Human and Civil rights of the Illinois Education Association -NEA.

Dr. Reichert is a board member and editor of Professional Development: The International Journal of Continuing Social Work Education. She is also a board member and editor of Reflections: Journal of Professional Helping. In addition, Dr. Reichert has been a frequent presenter on issues of international child welfare, child sexual abuse and adult survivors of sexual abuse.

In the Undergraduate Program Dr. Reichert has taught the following courses:
Social Welfare (375), Interviewing Skills (383), Generalist Practice I and II (401 and 402), Social Work Research (411), Advanced Field (442 and 444); International Social Work (478).

In the Graduate Program Dr. Reichert has taught: HBSE (500), Children, Youth and Families I and II (561 and 562), Psychopathology (531), Advanced Field Practice (544), Child Abuse and Neglect (546), Social Work Policy (522)
